Wiring Conventions
LABEL YOUR WIRES AND CONNECTORS!
Whenever possible, bundle wires in a branching, tree-like configuration. No "rats nests" please.
Use heat-shrink tubing to insulate soldered connections.
Use the appropriate guage of wire for your application
High current wires - heavy gauge (thick)
Low current wires - small guage (thin)
Don't use the chassis as an electrical ground.
Connectors are usually marked for pin #1, and sometimes other pins as well.
Wire color convention
Red
is positive +
Black is negative -
