Structural Materials

Stiff means difficult to bend to any degree.
Rigid applies to something so stiff that it cannot be bent without breaking.
Fragile implies extreme delicacy of material or construction and need for careful handling.
Frangible implies susceptibility to being broken without implying weakness or delicacy.
Brittle implies hardness together with lack of elasticity or flexibility or toughness.
Plastic applies to substances soft enough to be molded yet capable of hardening into the desired fixed form.
Pliable suggests something easily bent, folded, twisted, or manipulated.
Pliant may stress flexibility and sometimes connote springiness.
Ductile applies to what can be drawn out or extended with ease.
Malleable applies to what may be pressed or beaten into shape.
